I am a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Sustainable Development at Premier University, Chittagong.
I pursued my MA (Sociology) from South Asian University, New Delhi, India.
I am interested in food anthropology, agroecology, and environment. In my academic training, I have worked on the social construction of the quality (or goodness) of rice. My research interests have shifted to the debate of food security versus food sovereignty and changing agroecology in neoliberal food regimes.
Currently, I am undertaking a food and heritage research project to unravel the social embeddedness and cultural distinctiveness of Mezban in the Chittagong/Chattogram region.
In my future research project, I intend to work on the impact of agroecological transformation on the rural peasantry in monga-prone areas of northern Bangladesh. I prefer ethnographic research.
